Wellington College in UK to open schools in India
Wellington College International in the UK has partnered with Indian group Unison to open premium schools in India.
The first such school will open in Pune in 2023. Wellington College International (WCI) Pune will be a mixed boarding and day for children aged 2 to 18, a statement from the college said on Tuesday.
“India is a progressive country with a vibrant economy, a rich culture and a passion for education. WCI looks forward to working with Unison to combine the best of British and Indian education, creating exceptional schools that are distinctly Wellington, offering excellent academic results and opportunities for all students, ”said Scott Bryan, international director of WCI.
“We see this as a wonderful opportunity for Indian students to get an education at Wellington College in their home country and gain access to the best universities in the world,” said Anuj Aggarwal, co-founder of the Unison Education Foundation.
Unison Group offers education in India with four educational institutions in Dehradun and Delhi NCR including Unison World School, one of the leading boarding schools for girls in India.
WCI schools will share the values, ethics and ambition of Wellington College, while combining the best of British and Indian education, the statement said.
There are currently six schools in the WCI family of schools with two partners in China and Thailand serving more than 5,000 students, he said.
WCI is a group of leading international schools. It is a branch of Wellington College, founded under the British Royal Charter in 1853, and a leading day school and boarding school in the United Kingdom.
